Student Film Makers Exercise Voice and Choice

at First Ever Film Festival

We rolled out the red carpet for these young film makers, and then watched their faces light up as their video was on the large screen. The Firehouse Arts Center was at capacity, and what a joy to see students of all ages share in this inaugural experience. With several categories represented, we were able to showcase the creativity of students far and wide! Enjoy these selections below:

CATEGORIES IN DETAIL:  

  • Personal: Personal narrative, fictional narrative, biography, etc. (5 min.)
  • Documentary/News Story: current event, historical event, etc. (5 min. max)
  • Public Service Announcements: short community announcements (45 seconds max)
  • Music Video: Use original, student-created music or lyrics (5 min. max)
  • Trailers: Book teasers, etc. (1 min. max)
  • Spoken Word Poetry: Poem with powerful voiceover & imagery (5 min. max)
  • "How-to" video: Procedural, step-by-step demonstrations (5 min. max)
  • Animation: Computer animation, stop motion, or any other type of animation (5 min. max)
  • Other: Any other type of film not listed above

RULES & GUIDELINES:

  • 3-5 minute videos, 3 min. is recommended
  • K-12, made by PUSD students
  • Individual submissions are OK
  • Group submissions are OK
  • Only one submission per student
  • Classes submitting multiple projects must vote (limit 3 submissions per period/class)

  • Video entries due by April 30, 2015
  • Films must be uploaded to YouTube
  • *Be sure your YouTube video is "unlisted" for proper viewing
